The members of the Connecticut Orthopaedic Society (COS) elected a new Secretary/Treasurer at its Annual Meeting held at the Marriott Hotel in Farmington, Connecticut on May 13, 2016. Dr. Michael Aronow, with a unanimous vote, was elected to serve the COS from May 2016 to May 2017.

Dr. Aronow is an orthopaedic surgeon with Orthopaedic Associates of Hartford, and has served on the Board of the CT Orthopaedic Society for over ten years. He is a graduate of Harvard College and the Harvard Medical School and did a general surgery internship, orthopaedic residency, research fellowship, and sports medicine fellowship at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center followed by a year of advanced clinical experience in foot and ankle surgery at the University of Washington Medical Center and Harborview Medical Center.

He serves as an Associate Clinical Professor at UConn School of Medicine, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and since joining the Society Board, Dr. Aronow has served in leadership and advisory roles including Lead Physician for the Society’s Scope of Practice Work Group and also as representative to the Department of Public Health review board for the granting of advanced licensure permits to podiatrists.

He is an active member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) where he serves on the Health Policy Committee, Program Committee, and Fellowship Match Committee. He has co-authored over 40 journal articles and over 15 book chapters, and has presented his research and given scientific and clinical talks at multiple regional, national, and international meetings.
