2022 Annual Meeting Highlights
The Connecticut Orthopaedic Society orthopaedic surgeon members gathered on May 6, 2022, at the AquaTurf Club in Plantsville, CT at the Society's 2022 Annual Meeting.

Over 125 orthopaedic surgeon members, Yale and UConn orthopaedic residents, physician assistants and special guests participated in the CME accredited program with presentations from leading experts assembled by Dr. Michael Kaplan, Program Director.

Society Honors Craig Tifford, MD (Posthumously)
2022 COS Orthopaedist of the Year

The Connecticut Orthopaedic Society was proud to honor Craig Tifford, MD, posthumously, with the Society’s 2022 Orthopaedist of the Year award at the Society’s 2022 Annual Meeting. Friend and colleague, Dr. F. Scott Gray presented the award to the family of Dr. Tifford's.

The COS Board voted to posthumously bestow the award in grateful recognition for his passion for the profession and his patients, service on the COS Board and the time he spent mentoring and training new surgeons.

Kenneth Paonessa, MD
Honored for Humanitarian Work

The COS Humanitarian Service Award recognizes the tireless efforts, outstanding commitment, and sustained dedication in service to humanity. 

Kenneth Paonessa, MD, was nominated for his decades of volunteer work devoted to the underserved. In recognizing his volunteer efforts, COS President, Dr. Tarik Kardestuncer noted his commitment to the training of surgeons, procurement of surgical supplies and the care of patients.

On behalf of Connecticut's orthopaedic community, thank you for your service.

The COS Honorary Member is conferred by the Board of Directors to an individual who serves or contributes to the advancement and enhance­ment of orthopaedic practice in Connecticut. Michelle Ciarlelli and Carol Hornish were this year’s Honorary Members.
 
Michelle Ciarlelli and Carol Hornish were nominated by the Board for their long-standing dedication to the Society and their commitment to the orthopaedic surgeon members. As valuable team members shepherding the Society’s premiere education event, they have helped grow and ensure the success of the Society. Our Society could not realize our continued yearly meeting success without them.
